Group discussions and interviews with the players and the head coach were conducted. As a result, ‘shigoto (work)’ and ‘discipline’ became apparent as factors, and strict hierarchy was considered to be at the root of these factors. From the interviews with the coach, it was found that although they had reformed the team culture before and improved their performance, the current issues were similar to those before the reform.
