In the training of student trainer, it very important not only to acquire athletic training knowledge and skills, but also to practice in the sports field. Therefore, student train-ers gain the experience every day at sports field both on and off campus. The purpose of this research is to report the activities of student trainers who belong to Nippon Sport Science University’s athletic training cir-cle. The paper also identifies the abilities required of student trainer at sports field and use them for future student trainer activities and education. The method of this paper was that we surveyed and analyzed the ac-tivity logs of ATs dispatched to sports clubs at the request of Nippon Sport Science University’s Athlete Sup-port System. In 2018, 33 student ATs were dispatched to a total of 15 university teams, representing 12 dif-ferent sports. The activity logs covered 5.4 ± 1.4 days per week and 204.2 ± 67.9 days per year. The abilities required at sports field included basic skills such as icing, stretching, taping, instructing warming up/cooling down, acute injury treatment, and athletic rehabilitation. In addition to them, self-care condition guidance, promotion, and thoroughness were required of student ATs as an applied ability. Until now, student ATs have completely mastered the skills and knowledge prior to their sports field work. From now on, there is a need to provide additional opportunities for ATs to learn coaching
